Update 03:50 AM (GMT +7]  09/14/2024

Currently, Typhoon Yagi has ended, floods have receded from the northern provinces, but the risk of landslides in provinces such as Lao Cai and Yen Bai is still very high, with a high risk of insecurity. The authorities and local people are overcoming the consequences of the storm, including: cleaning the living environment, rebuilding roads and constructions, evacuating people and villages to safer places, reconnecting information lines, electricity and water and normal activities. It is expected to take about 1 month for the affected areas to resume operations and by the end of 2024, they will return to normal operations, although the damage to people, infrastructure and the surrounding environment is very large.

Update 09:50 AM (GMT +7]  09/12/2024

Heavy rains in the northern region have decreased, and while water levels in rivers and areas across the North remain at risk (with many places still above danger level 3, though gradually receding), we can expect the flood situation to end soon. After the flooding comes the period of post-storm recovery, which has severely impacted northern provinces. Roads, transportation infrastructure, electricity, housing, and tourist facilities have been devastated, and there is a possibility of localized, minor disease outbreaks in some areas, as often occurs after major floods.
